Item Attitudes of gender differences and high profile jobs in selected universities of Western Uganda(Scholars Middle East Publishers, 2018-05-30) Nansamba, Hadijah; Byabashaija, Deusdedit; Muheebwa, Florence Prescah; Schmidt, OliverThe article examines the relationship between attitudes of staff members towards gender differences and high job positions relating to employee performance and institutional development in selected Universities of Western Uganda. The study adopted an observational, cross-sectional exploration design with both quantitative and qualitative as paradigms in order to describe the data and its characteristics [6]. Questionnaires and an interview guides were employed to gather information from the respondents. Data was analyzed using frequencies, percentages and bar graphs. The study findings showed that there was a positive relationship between gender differences in decision making and top management positions. The study findings recommended that there is need to ensure building the capacity of women by improving their literacy and leadership skills, give men and women equal opportunities and treat them equally and have equal access to top jobs in all institutions of learning, the study also suggested including both men and women in policy making processes, through consultative ways in high level decision making.Item Possible measures to overcome gender differences and high profile jobs in selected universities of Western Uganda(Scholars Middle East Publishers, 2018-07-30) Nansamba, Hadijah; Muheebwa, Florence Prescah; Byabashaija, Deusdedit; Kasozi, Isa; Serukeera, Aziz; Schmidt, Oliver; Mbabazi, Grace Mary; Mawenu, RobertThe article investigates the relationship between possible measures to overcome gender differences and high profile jobs relating to institution policy change and development in selected Universities of Western Uganda. The study adopted an observational, cross-sectional exploration design with both quantitative and qualitative as paradigms in order to describe the data and its characteristics. Questionnaires and an interview guides were employed to gather information from the respondents. Data was analyzed using frequencies, percentages and bar graphs. Study findings showed that there was a positive correlation between addressing gender differences and top job positions in universities in western Uganda. The study suggested remedies like; that there is need to advertise and give scholarships to young and well qualified women to go and pursue further studies for their career development and for helping their organizations to grow. There is need to encourage girl child education through the practice of positive discrimination and affirmative action in society. The study recommend also the practice of gender mainstreaming for all academic institutions to avoid the problem of under representation of both sexes , sensitization of stakeholders for girl child education, encouraging female candidates to apply for higher job positions and addressing gender-imbalance through staff development.Item Total quality management and customer satisfaction at Roofings Uganda Limited, Kampala, Uganda(SAS Publishers (Scholars Academic and Scientific Publishers), 2018-07-30) Byabashaija, Deusdedit; Muheebwa, Prescah Florence; Mbyemeire, Patrick; Nansamba, Hadijah; Aheebwa, Christopher; Mubehamwe, Janan; Kagambe, Edmond; Kwesiga, Maximus; Nyakahuma, Charles; Basemera, Doreen; Rubalema, Alex; Muhangi, W.Bernard; Gimaddu, EstherThe study sought to examine the role of Total Quality Management on Customer Satisfaction at Roofings Uganda Limited in Kampala District. A cross- section survey design, using quantitative and qualitative approaches was adapted to capture respondents’ views, attitudes and opinions on the topic under study. A close ended questionnaire and an interview guide were used as research instruments to source for information. Whereas interview guide was used to elicit qualitative data, the questionnaire obtained quantitative data. The study population comprised of 290 people who included customers, managers and customer interface staff at Roofings Uganda Limited, utilizing a sample size of 165 respondents who were selected using a table developed by Morgan and Kreijcie (1970) and also utilizing purposive, convenient and simple random sampling techniques. The study findings revealed that Total Quality Management has a positive relationship with customer satisfaction. Therefore, based on the findings, this study recommends that organizations should invest a lot in Total Quality Management, motivation of staff, employees training, mentoring of human resources and sensitization of all stakeholders on quality output as a strategy to enhance customer satisfaction.
