Item Whose education is it? the exclusion of African values from Higher Education(Uganda Martyrs University, 2017) Muwanga-Zake, Wycliffe FrankThe contents of this chapter are derived from a literature review about Quality Assurance (QA) and about values in higher education (HE), being led by the question of whose values are assured in HE. An attempt has was made to apply the questionnaires to home and business owners as well as selected professionals close by the universities of New England Armidale (Australia), University of Greenwich, London (UK) and Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi (Uganda) who were residing close by communities. Additionally the question of the relevance of HE was applied during the author's research towards a Master's degree at Rhodes University Grahamstown (South Africa), for which the dissertation questioned the relevance of apartheid education to black communities. Findings were backed up by the experiences of the author as a lecturer in Uganda, South Africa, Australia and the United Kingdom, as well. The chapter questions the learning process and the relevance of the knowledge to the local communities and host HE institutions.
